"Wherein ye greatly rejoice, though now for a season, if need be, ye are in heaviness through manifold temptations: That the trial of your faith, being much more precious than of gold that perisheth, though it be tried with fire, might be found unto praise and honour and glory at the appearing of Jesus Christ." 1 Peter 1:6-7.
If need be - a solemn thought
At the work God hath wrought:
The burden seems hard to bear,
But the God all grace is there.
If need be - Our Father doth know
What we need to like Him grow;
The need to overcome and be strong,
The pilgrim courage the journey long.
If need be - sweet words to lift
The fainting heart up like the eagle swift
To heights we’ve never been,
Far above this world of sin.
If need be - He knoweth best,
What we need to find rest
In the cleft of the Rock, in the dark night
When the storm rages with all its might.
If need be - Thank you Lord above
For the gift of your love,
For the value you see in me
Of pure gold a reflection of Thee.
If need be - Thank you, Lord, for the fire
To purify my heart, to inspire;
I lift you up in praise,
Glorify you in my soul all my days.
