Red Envelopes

White House Confirms — Over 2 Million Red Envelopes

The White House mail office has confirmed that as many as 2.25 million red envelopes have been received. The red envelope project was an idea conceived by a Massachusetts man, Christ Otto, who envisioned filling the White House with thousands of red envelopes as a visual expression of moral outrage over the president's abortion policies. Each envelope was meant to symbolize a life that was taken because of abortion. One White House mail worker said, "I've been here 35 years, so I've seen presidents come and go. This campaign ranks up there with the big ones."
